Greetings
from the
Chief of Clan Lockhart

I am pleased to have the opportunity of recording a warm welcome to all Lockharts who may visit this web site.

I hope you find it informative and interesting.

A brief note about myself and my family:-

Recognised as Chief by the Lord Lyon in 1957, I am married and live and manage the family estate in Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Our daughter, Fiona, is married and lives in South Africa. She has two sons and a daughter.

My son and heir, Ranald, lives in Edinburgh and works for an environmental organisation.

Angus Lockhart of the Lee.

The Society

In December 1996, the Chief called a meeting at Biggar in Lanarkshire to explore the interest in establishing a Lockhart Family Society.

It was decided unanimously by those present that a society should be formed which would be open to anyone regardless of name, who consider themselves to be a member of the famly, or who has a strong interest in the family, its origins and its history.

The Crest

Clansmen are identified through the Lockhart Crest, worn as badges and brooches and by which their loyalty is identified. The Crest bears the motto "Corda Serrata Pando" - I open locked hearts.
